We will begin from the ground up, focusing on solid sentence structure, paragraph unity, logical transitions, introductions, and engaging conclusions. Group and individual sessions available. Write Your College Application Essay In this course rising seniors will write their college application essay. After students choose a prompt, most often from the List of Common Application Essay Prompts, we will discuss the student's approach to the prompt, brainstorm ideas, prewrite, and organize the essay. The goal is to produce an essay that expresses the student's authentic voice and conveys his or her unique perspective. This usually takes several short meetings (around 30 minutes), depending on the student’s needs and objectives. Cost: $85/hour
Learn the College Essay This course gives graduated seniors practice in college-level writing. College freshmen are expected to understand basic essay structure (see above) and be able to write the college essay: the analytical essay. We will begin with an introduction to analysis and critical reading, then move to short analysis writing exercises, and finally students will complete a full analysis essay. This is an individual course that will be tailored to the student's needs. Cost: Complimentary initial intake; $85/hour thereafter.
